Community Solar is a program which allows any utility customer throughout New York State, the opportunity of securing solar power credits (Savings) from a remote solar system. Remote solar sites located throughout your local utility zone will be generating solar credits (Savings) for any customer to take part in.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Zero out of pocket.
ARE THERE ANY ANNUAL OR MAINTENANCE FEES?
Zero. That's the beauty of the program, no upfront or ongoing costs. Just sit back and secure credits (Savings).
HOW MUCH WILL I SAVE?
Approx. 5%-12% monthly savings.
HOW DO I RECEIVE THE CREDITS?
On your local utility bill, there will be a new line item "Renewable Energy Credit". This credit will be for your subscription within a Community Solar Farm. The Value of the credit will lower your total utility bill.
IS THIS THE SAME AS AN ESCO (THIRD PARTY SUPPLIER)?
No. Community solar is not an ESCO. you are not buying power nor locking into a fixed price for power. All you are doing is receiving a free monthly energy credit. You can still work with an ESCO if you choose.
WHAT'S THE LENGTH OF THE AGREEMENT?
The term of each community solar project varies, short and long term. You have the option to subscribe to any of the available community solar projects.
IS THERE A CANCELLATION PENALTY?
This depends on the community solar project you select, some may have an early termination and others may not. You choose whichever project you like best.
WHAT IF I HAVE A THIRD PARTY ENERGY SUPPLIER?
Not a problem. Securing credits from a community solar farm will not effect your 3rd party energy supply agreement. Please note that we encourage you receive Single Billing from your supplier, rather than Dual Billing.
WILL MY UTILITY STILL BILL ME?
Always. Your utility will continue to remain your utility company for as long as you're a subscriber within the program.
HOW MUCH ENERGY CAN I TAKE FROM THE SOLAR SYSTEM?
Each individual customer can secure no more than 100% of their annual energy demand.
WILL I RECEIVE ANY OTHER BILLS?
Yes. You will receive a digital (email) invoice from goCDG (community solar billing administrator) on behalf of the community solar owner. The invoice will be for a % of the credit you received. At the end of the day, you're left with a total savings on your energy bill, hassle free and zero out of pocket. NEVER pay more than your original utility bill.
